Ebook About She gave her daughter up. Now she wants her back. NY Times & USA Today bestselling author Lorhainne Eckhart brings you a new O’Connell family novel about secrets and lies, and a woman who has no reason to trust anyone. What do you do when a woman shows up on your doorstep, suddenly wanting her daughter back? Never in a million years did Marcus and Charlotte O’Connell expect to be faced with this kind of dilemma, but when Reine Colbert is released from prison, she shows up at their house, demanding they return her daughter, Eva.Worse is the fact that Sheriff Marcus never received a courtesy call from the prison or parole board to warn him that Reine was about to be released. As far as he and Charlotte were concerned, they had followed Reine’s wishes, adopting her daughter so she could serve her time, knowing Eva was loved and in a good family. But now she’s changed her mind, and she believes Marcus is somehow responsible for her lost years with her daughter. Though Marcus and his siblings step in to talk it through with Reine, who has been given a raw deal, little Eva is the one caught in the middle of the tug of war. Will the O’Connells be able to reason with a woman who has no reason to trust anyone? Find out in a novel about secrets, hurts, lies, and the true of meaning of family. “Pre-order your copy now by clicking the BUY now with 1-Click button at the top of this page!”Book Broken Promises (The O'Connells Book 16) Review :
Difficult subject matter regarding laws and abuse. It was presented very nicely by the author. The love of a mother for her daughter and that they would do anything for them. The saddest part goes back to the beginning and the reason Reine ended up on the streets trying to survive. Interesting read of laws, love and family dynamics I have loved Marcus O’Connell since the 2nd book in this series. I empathized with him over the injustices to which Reine Colbert was subjected that he had no control over. I worried with him and Charlotte as they struggled over the heartbreaking decision that Reine made to give up her daughter and when it looked like they could possibly lose the family they were beginning to build for Eva. But Reine’s now out of prison and she’s returned to claim what she believes is her rightful place as Eva’s mother. And Marcus does what is as deeply ingrained in him as breathing, he automatically goes into protective mode with a knee-jerk reaction to push Reine away. He doesn’t make good decisions here. He reacts emotionally which often makes you want to smack him upside his head. Something his sisters would gladly do themselves. There’s a lot of emotional issues that are dealt with in this book. Arguments you may have with yourself as you try to see both sides. In addition, seeing the inequities and abuse that are probably common occurrences in our parole system will dig at your social conscience and quite possibly leave you feeling a bit beat up emotionally yourself. This is a tale that really grabs your attention and manipulates your feelings in such a manner as to bring out deep-seated feelings of frustration, anger, heartache, and outrage. Although this is a work of fiction, it is easy to imagine this happening in real life. I was so thoroughly captivated by this story that I found it almost impossible to put down. The O’Connell family’s saga challenges you on a much deeper level than just being entertaining. These stories make you think and more, they make you feel. I can’t find the words to express how profoundly I care about these characters and their lives. It’s been an amazing journey that I hope continues for a long time to come.
